Welcome to my blog. My name is Carly (here is a very rare picture of my face, well not really but close enough), and over the years of meeting new people, I have come to the conclusion that I am not the best at introductions. Instead, I will do more of a little Q&A of myself and give you some cool fun facts about me. But in all honesty, my life is pretty much school and work, but it will still be fun to read 🙂
Tell us a little bit about yourself
Well, I am 19 years old and reside in a small town in Ontario, Canada. I have 3 younger siblings (we are all 2 years apart in age), as well a cat named Gary (she is a girl). My spirit animal would have to be a red panda because they are tiny and cute and the best things in the whole world! I mean, LOOK AT HOW CUTE THIS LITTLE ONE IS! P.S. this is an actual representation of me when I get angry. I’m mostly an introvert, but I do have my extrovert days. I am super awkward in public situations and hate public speaking. I have been told that my laugh is a combination of a witch and a dolphin (no joke), and have been asked if it can be recorded for a phone ringtone. Unfortunately,
for you not for me, you will not get to experience my amazing-ness besides reading my blog (unless you are close by then totally message me and we can talk!).
When did you start reading?
Hmm, as far as I know, I have been reading ever since I was little. I have all of the Jigsaw Jones books, Nancy Drew, Geronimo Stilton, even the Rainbow fairies series. I was also really into the books that were done like diaries, such as Diary of a Whimpy Kid and there was another one that had a girl in high school, but I cannot remember the name of it for the life of me. Ever since, I have always had a HUGE collection of books, a lot of them are on my TBR list, but they are just beautiful to look at.
- Dancing (for 16 years and counting)
- Singing (in the school choir for 4 years)
- Drawing, painting, sketching, basically all forms of art
- Crocheting (and no, it is not just for old ladies)
- Listening to Kpop 24/7 (Carot, Monbebe, EXO-L, BLINK , and ARMY here, as well as other groups
- Lover of ALL Kdramas (because everything is better in Korean in my opinion)
- and Reading (duh)
Favourite TV shows?
So, I don’t really watch that much TV in English, but that does not mean that I don’t have some all-time favourites (and yes, I am very aware that I am a child):
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Danny Phantom
- Kim Possible
- Stranger Things
- Criminal Minds
- The Goldburgs
- BBC Sherlock
- BBC Doctor Who
OH BOY! I have quite a few of these, but I think I can narrow it down to their sub-categories:
- ANYTHING MARVEL HAS PRODUCED
- ANYTHING DISNEY HAS PRODUCED
- All the Pitch Perfects
- Really any movie that has the “Chris’s” in them, ie. Hemsworth, Pine, Evens
- also a really big sucker for action movies, but nothing with aliens or zombies
I tend to read a lot of mysteries and thrillers, but that does mean that I haven’t read my fair share of romance and contemporary. For the authors, some of my favourites include Lisa Maxwell, Jason Reynolds, Mary Downing Hahn, Jennifer Barnes, and Ruth Ware.
Favourite books consist of:
- The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
- Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie
- A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
Why start this blog/ reason behind the name?
I started this blog since I am HORRIBLE at remembering what happens in a book and the characters, so by having a blog I was able to write reviews that would help me remember them. As for the name, The Darlings Diary, I am a huge fan of Peter Pan (I currently own 10 different editions of the book), and I want to incorporate that somehow into my blog name. I also wanted it to roll off the tongue easily for when I’m telling people about it, so then The Darlings Diary was born!
